Lucas Cranach wins the 2012 Peter Young Stakes

Lucas Cranach has won the 2012 Peter Young Stakes (also known as the St George Stakes). The 2011 Melbourne Cup third place-getter came from last to win the Group 2 1800m at Caulfield by 1.3 lengths from Illo with Manighar thrid. Glass Harmonium, who lead for most of the distance, finished fourth.

Race favourite Southern Speed finished fifth.

The imposing German import Lucas Cranach will next face-off against Americain in the Group 1 Australian Cup at Flemintgon on 10th March 2012.
