St George Stakes 2011 – Nominations Released

February 22nd, 2011

Nominations have been released for the 2011 St George Stakes that is due to run at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday February 26, 2011.

A full 16 horse field plus one emergency have been nominated for the 2011 St George Stakes, with some of the great names in horse racing amongst them.

The Group 2 St George Stakes will be run over 1,800 metres and will be contested under weight-for-age conditions.

Worth $200,000 the 2011 St George Stakes will run as part of Blue Diamond Stakes Day.

Odds and betting information for the 2011 St George Stakes will be released at Luxbet shortly.

Included in the nominations is Mick Price’s Heart Of Dreams, who finished second by a short half head to Typhoon Tracy in the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes on February 12.

Heart Of Dreams has won five of his 22 starts to date, including the Group 1 Cadbury Guineas in March 2009.

Also amongst the nominations is Bart Cummings’ 2009 Crown Oaks winner Faint Perfume.

The four-year-old mare had a disappointing start to this preparation, finishing 13th in the C.F. Orr Stakes last start.

Bart Cummings will be hoping his mare can rectify a bad run that has saw her fail to finish better than sixth since April 2010.

Mark Kavanagh’s former Melbourne Cup winner Shocking will also be contesting the 2011 St George Stakes.

Shocking finished 11th in the C.F. Orr Stakes last start at Caulfield and will be hoping the jump in distance from 1,400 metres to 1,800 metres will be a better suit.

Also nominated are Robert Hickmott’s Linton, Ciaron Maher’s Moudre, Jake Stephen’s Alcopop and Peter Moody’s Hanks.
