2010 St George Stakes Preview

February 5th, 2010

Host to one of the world’s elite horse racing carnivals boasting top races, is the city of Melbourne, and on the 20th of February one of the carnivals feature race days will be held in the Blue Diamond Stakes Day.

While the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) headlines the day at the fantastic Caulfield Racecourse, a race not to be ignored is the exciting Group 2 event, the 2010 St George Stakes.

The weight-for-age race has a lucrative $200,000 purse on offer and it seems the Mick Price-trained Heart Of Dreams will be a starter. The Australian Guineas winner is a top galloper and would certainly be one to watch if confirmed to start on the 20th.

David Hayes is also hoping to run Zagreb in the 1800m race.

Also hinting at running in the 2010 St George Stakes is the six-year-old Sniper’s Bullet. Having won the Railway Stakes and the Kingston Town Stakes, the St George Stakes would be another good run for the gelding, whose eyes are set on the Group 1 Australian Cup.

Trainer David Hayes is also hoping to run Zagreb in the 1800m race with six-year-old Our Aqaleem also a possibility.

So as the Blue Diamond Stakes Day gets closer keep an eye out for horse form for the 2010 St George Stakes.
